CLUB UPDATE

Great news that lots of work has been carried out to improve our changing rooms and facilities. We hope that members enjoy the improvements that have been made. Many thanks to all that have helped to make this possible.

OPEN DAY

What a great day we have had for our open day today.  Perfect weather and lots of visitors who seemed to really enjoy bowling and socialising with the members who were on hand to help with bowling, have a chat and hand out teas and cakes. We are very pleased to be welcoming some new members. A very positive day and very worthwhile. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it so successful.

If you are interested in having a go to see if you would like playing bowls it is never too late so contact us via the email link on this website and we will be pleased to arrange to meet you at the green and give you the opportunity to try it out.

SHORT MAT SUCCESS

Congratulations to Witney Mills Weavers who have won the West Oxfordshire Short Mat League this year and also to the FlyingShuttles who won the Witney Town Short Mat league.  Great results with some excellent bowling - well done to all members of these teams.

RACE NIGHT

It was great to see so many Witney Mills members, their families and friends having a fun time at our Race Night on 7th March and to welcome our friends from other bowls clubs who supported the event.  Many thanks to all who helped to organise the night and to Witney Town Bowls Club for letting us hire their facilities to run the event.  This was a great example of how friendships build between clubs in our sport.

Watch this space for future events!!

CONGRATULATIONS

Another final settled. Well done to Ron Smith who has won the Never Won competition and to Alec Tyrell, the runner up.

GREAT FUTURE FOR THE MILLS

How brilliant for our club this year that we have so many newer players featuring in our finals - Emily Smith, Dan Shurey, Amanda Weller, Alec Tyrell and Dave Cox.  Also great to see Bex Dunsby coming back into form having left off bowling for a long time after playing in her teens and a few games several years ago.  The future looks good for the Mills!

CONGRATULATIONS

More congratulations due to the winners of the ladies' pairs, Emily Smith and Bex Dunsby, and to the runners up, Amanda Weller and Carole Regan.  Also to Pete Wilson who has won the Point Cup by beating Chris Weller in the final.

Congratulations to Carole Regan and Dan Shurey, our Singles winners this year.  Also to Jackie Dunsby and Chris Weller, the runners-up.
We had some really close and nail-biting ends to games in both men's and ladies' singles this year so well done to everyone who entered.

CYRIL ALLEN TRIPLES
Another great club competition afternoon - thanks to all members who braved the hot and sunny conditions to play our annual triples with a difference competition.  Congratulations to Alec Tyrell, Dave Cox and Kevin Siford who were winners with a shot difference of Plus 9.  In a very close run competition the runners up were Margaret Wiggins, Chris Smith and John Mott who gained runners up by winning more ends when two teams drew on shot difference.

NEW CLUB SIGN

A great addition to the club this week when a new sign was erected beside the gate to welcome people to Witney Mills Bowls Club. Thanks go to Keith Dunsby for organising the production of the sign and gaining sponsorship from Bakers Butchers, Bex Dunsby for designing it and Adrian Dunsby & Chris Smith for erecting the sign to complete the project.  It looks great and makes the club look so much more professional.
